Boundary Fences

The Standard Paling Fence is a familiar sight in most suburbs — providing boundary separation and privacy. The height of these fences varies with typical heights being 1200, 1500, 1800, 2100 and 2400mm. Paling fences provide an extremely economical fence for many applications. Standard palings are sometimes substituted with tongue and grooved palings. These palings are machined in a similar manner as interior linings but are generally thicker. They typically have a smooth surface. This type of paling fence offers improved privacy screening, as there are no gaps between palings. Generally they are fully painted and offer a very solid and impressive appearance. Lapped and capped fencing is an excellent option for a boundary fence. The Lap and Cap provides a more attractive appearance and also increased visual privacy. The palings are installed onto the frame leaving a gap of 30-50mm between palings, the lapped palings are then installed centrally over these gaps, overlapping the first run of palings.This design ensures privacy is maintained even where the palings shrink marginally. The capping will enhance the life expectancy of the fence by protecting the end grain of the palings. Treatment Levels

Picket Fences
| There are so many different styles now available; you don't have to stick to the traditional white picket fence. For a picket fence with a modern edge consider adding some capping. Not only does this create a nice neat finish to the fence, it also gives your fence extra protection against the weather. A nice effect can be achieved by painting the capping and bottom rail a contrasting colour to the pickets.

Painting Tips * Painting or staining your fence will help extend the life of your fence. * If possible all pieces of should receive one coat of paint before the fence is assembled, as many areas cannot be repainted once the fence is built.
